"ACCESS CONNECTICUT " is dedicated to passing legislation allowing adult adoptees born in CT to regain the right of access to their original birth certificates.  In CT the OBC is sealed after the adoption is legally finalized and an "amended" or adoptive certificate is substituted.  Since 1974 the adult adoptee has been denied access to the OBC by law.  Members of ACCESS CT believe that CT adoptees are being denied the human right that all other people who were born in CT have  --  to go to the vital records office and get a copy of their original birth certificate.  It is their history,  it is their origin and  they have the human right to that information.

News & Upcoming Events

On Saturday, December 17th I would like to have one more sign waving/rally event in support of changing Connecticut law to restore the human right for adult adoptees born in Connecticut to obtain their original birth certificates.  The rally will be held from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM at possibly two locations:

 West Farms Mall

1500 New Britain Ave,

W. Hartford, CT 06110

http://www.shopwestfarms.com/

 or

 The Shoppes at Buckland Hills
194 Buckland Hills Drive, Suite 2500
Manchester, Connecticut 06042

http://www.theshoppesatbucklandhills.com/

Once we know how many people will be supporting the event we can determine if we have enough support to have the rally at both locations.  This will be our last event for the year so please come out and show your support.

 Thanks,

Paul Schibbelhute

All,

I just wanted to let you know we had another very successful day advocating for adoptees rights. Thanks to everyone who traveled from out of state to support our rally including Nancy Horgan from ACCESS RHODE ISLAND,  Peter Franklin from NJCARE, Joyce Bahr from UNSEALED INITIATIVE in NY.  Victoria Chadwell another adoptee who came from New York to support our rally.  Thanks to Barbara Montgomery, Jane Servadio and especially Marion Conklin who brought sandwiches!!!  We did have another couple come from New Jersey and did a great job. When I get the spelling of their names I'll pass them along to you as well.

We did have a reporter come from the Greenwich Times and interviewed us and took pictures.  Below are the links to the different newspapers in Connecticut that published the article.  Please go online and check them out.

Please go to the comments section of these articles and leave a supporting comment.

 Thanks,

Paul
